The writer Temur Pulatov is among those writers who have made a worthy contribution to the development of Uzbek literature with his dozens of novellas and novels.
He was born in Bukhara in 1939 and started his working career early. He then studied at the Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute. He graduated in 1963 and entered the higher courses for screenwriting in Moscow in 1967.
His creative work began as a journalist, and his news reports and essays appeared in the pages of the local press during his student years. His first novella («Ne khodi po obochine») was published in 1964 in the journal «Zvezda Vostoka». Since then, the novellas and novels he created have been published in Russian and Uzbek in Tashkent and Moscow. It should also be noted that since Temur Pulatov was one of the Uzbek writers who wrote in Russian, his works spread faster and were frequently published in Union-level publications.
The author's works such as «Bolak manzilgohlar» (Separate Settlements), «Bolalar xori» (Children's Chorus), and «Dushan qaysarning ko‘rgan-kechirganlari» (The Experiences of Dushan the Stubborn) contributed to the development of the adventure genre in the literature of the 70s and 80s. Also, his dozens of large epic canvases such as «Buxoro xonadonining kechmishlari» (The History of a Bukhara Household), «Mulk» (Property), «Kunda-shunda», «G‘oyibning ikkinchi safari» (The Second Journey of Goyib), «Etti huzur-halovat va qirq qayg‘u alam» (Seven Joys and Forty Sorrows), «G‘oyibning qaytishi» (The Return of Goyib), and «Taroziy toshbaqasi» (The Scales Tortoise) have been warmly received by readers.
As a publicist and critic, Temur Pulatov frequently appears in journals such as «Sharq yulduzi», «Zvezda Vostoka», «Literaturnoye obozreniye», and «Drujba narodov» with his dozens of articles. Especially noteworthy are his sharp works on nature conservation, particularly regarding the Aral Sea. At the same time, he demonstrates skill in translating the works of Uzbek writers into Russian and literature from Russian into his native language.
Temur Pulatov was awarded the Hamza State Prize in 1986 for his novellas «Mulk», «G‘oyibning ikkinchi safari», and «Kunda-shunda» and his novel «Buxoro xonadonining kechmishlari». In 1989, he was given the honorary title of People's Writer of Uzbekistan.
